Schenker, Inc. has agreed to a $1,275,000 class action settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged the freight transportation and logistics company acquired job applicants’ consumer reports for background check purposes without providing adequate disclosures and obtaining proper authorization.

The Schenker class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on August 10, 2026. Eligible for the settlement are all United States residents who applied for a position with Schenker between November 20, 2014 and February 28, 2022 and about whom the company procured a consumer report.
Court documents state that there are approximately 29,461 settlement class members.

Class members do not need to file a claim form to receive a pro rata (equal share) cash payment.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Schenker class action settlement following a hearing on December 17, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The class action lawsuit against Schenker alleged that the freight transportation and logistics company obtained background checks on job applicants without providing adequate disclosures and obtaining proper authorization, in violation of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act.
