MyChart Settlement: $4.25M Wellstar Pact Wraps Up Class Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Patient Data Disclosures

Wellstar Health System, Inc. has agreed to a $4.25 million class action settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged Georgia’s largest network of healthcare providers unlawfully disclosed patients’ personal and health information to third parties, including Meta and Google, via online tracking pixels, cookies and other hidden tracking technologies, without consent.

The Wellstar class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on July 28, 2026. Eligible for the MyChart settlement are all United States residents whose information was disclosed to a third party between February 19, 2020 and July 22, 2026 through tracking technologies on Wellstar’s web properties.

Court documents state that approximately 870,000 people are included in the Wellstar pixel settlement class.

The court-approved website for the deal can be found at WellstarDataPrivacySettlement.com. 

Class members who submit a valid, timely claim form can receive a pro rata cash payout from the Wellstar settlement. The amount of each class member’s payment will depend on the total number of valid claims filed, among other factors. 

To submit a Wellstar Health System settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the unique ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

Wellstar settlement claim forms must be filed online or by mail by November 10, 2026. 

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Wellstar patient data tracking settlement following a hearing on December 1, 2026. Settlement payouts will begin to be distributed after the deal receives final approval and any appeals are resolved. 

The class action lawsuit against Wellstar alleged that the Georgia healthcare system violated patients’ privacy by implementing and using tracking and data-collection tools from Google and Meta—namely Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and Google Tag Manager—in the Wellstar MyChart patient portal and on its public website to disclose consumers’ personally identifiable and protected health information to third parties without consent. 

“The Private Information of potentially millions of active or potential Wellstar patients was improperly and unlawfully disclosed without their knowledge or consent,” the complaint alleged. “Wellstar knows that this sensitive information has tremendous value and that Plaintiffs and Class members would not consent to its use in marketing or its dissemination to Meta and Google if they were provided a choice or would demand significant compensation.”
