The Holt Group class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on August 28, 2026. Eligible for the settlement are all United States residents whose private information was potentially accessed or acquired in the data incident experienced by Holt Group between December 26 and December 27, 2024 and who were sent a letter notifying them of the data breach.
Court documents state that approximately 17,624 people had private information leaked on the dark web because of the data incident.
The court-approved Holt Group class action settlement website can be found at HoltGroupDataSettlement.com.
Settlement class members who file a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred between December 26, 2024 and December 1, 2026 due to the data breach. This benefit covers losses from identity theft or fraud and costs for credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing/unfreezing credit, replacement IDs, postage, and more.
Class members must submit proof, such as receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.
In addition, class members can submit a claim form to receive reimbursement for up to four hours of lost time spent responding to the data incident, at a rate of $20 per hour. This benefit covers activities such as changing passwords, investigating suspicious account activity, and researching the Holt Group data breach.
In lieu of a documented-loss or lost-time payment, class members can file a claim form to receive a $50 cash payment, with no proof required.
Lastly, class members can elect on their claim form to receive two years of three-bureau credit monitoring, which includes fraud protection.
To file a Holt Group settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the login ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Holt Group settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by December 1, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Holt Group data breach settlement following a hearing on December 16, 2026. Settlement benefits will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The Holt Group class action lawsuit alleged that the collection of companies, which spans industries such as heavy machinery, construction, consulting services, training and technology, failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures to protect current and former employees’ private information from a targeted cyberattack between December 26 and December 27, 2024.
Court documents state that confidential information that may have been compromised during the data breach included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers and financial account information.
