The Dodge Grand Caravan settlement, which received preliminary court approval on March 27, 2025, covers all individuals who, within the United States, leased or bought a Dodge Grand Caravan built between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017.
The court-approved website for the class action settlement with automaker FCA US can be found at DodgeSlidingDoorLatchSettlement.com.
According to the settlement website, eligible class members do not need to do anything to receive through the deal a warranty extension for either 10 years from the in-service date of their vehicle or 100,000 miles driven, whichever comes first, to cover all parts and labor costs to repair a failing sliding door lock actuator.
Class members may also submit a timely, valid claim form on FCARecallReimbursement.com to receive reimbursement for any repairs related to a failing door lock actuator. Claimants will be required to submit their car’s 17-digit VIN to submit this claim.
According to the settlement website, consumers who did not experience the alleged Dodge Grand Caravan sliding door latch defect are also eligible to take advantage of the warranty extension offered through the class action settlement.
All settlement benefits and class member awards will be distributed only if the deal receives final approval from the court. There will be a hearing on September 16, 2025 to determine whether the settlement will be granted final approval.
In the event of final approval, and after the resolution of any appeals, all valid claims will be paid according to FCA US’s normal extended warranty payment process, the settlement website says.
The FCA US class action lawsuit alleged that Dodge Grand Caravan models built in 2017 had defective sliding door latch actuators that resulted in a domino effect of the locks, sensors and then the doors themselves ceasing to function properly. Per the case, this posed a safety hazard and caused consumers to pay for repairs allegedly necessitated by the alleged manufacturing defect.
