$9M Dr. Squatch Settlement Ends Lawsuit Over Alleged Synthetic Ingredients in ‘Natural’ Personal Care Products

Dr. Squatch, LLC has signed on to a $9 million class action settlement to resolve a false advertising lawsuit that alleged certain of the company’s “natural” personal care products contain synthetic ingredients.

The Dr. Squatch class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on July 15, 2026. Eligible to participate in the settlement are all individuals who, between November 1, 2018 and August 29, 2026, bought any of the Dr. Squatch products listed here in the United States. 

The court-approved Dr. Squatch settlement website can be found at PersonalCareProductsSettlement.com. 

Class members who submit a timely, valid claim form with proof of purchase can receive $0.50 per eligible Dr. Squatch product, for up to 20 products. Consumers who file a claim without proof of purchase can receive $0.50 per eligible product, for up to five products. 

Claim forms submitted both with and without proof of purchase shall be cumulative. For example, if a claimant submits a claim for 20 products with proof of purchase and five products without proof of purchase, the claimant will receive a $12.50 payment for 25 products.

The final amount of each class member’s cash payout will depend on the total number of valid claims filed, among other factors. 

To file a Dr. Squatch settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and select whether they have a settlement claim ID or wish to complete a claim online without an ID. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

Dr. Squatch claim forms must be filed online or by mail by November 27, 2026.

The court will decide whether to grant final approval to the Dr. Squatch synthetic ingredients settlement following a hearing on March 2, 2027. Settlement money will begin to be distributed after the deal receives final approval and any appeals are resolved. 

The lawsuit against Dr. Squatch alleged that the company misled consumers by falsely advertising certain shampoos, conditioners, soaps, deodorants, toothpastes and more as “natural” when the products, in truth, contained a litany of synthetic ingredients.
