California
HelloFresh has agreed to a $7,500,000 settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged the grocery service failed to properly inform consumers that they would be automatically enrolled into product subscriptions, and that the company failed to issue refunds for unwanted goods.

The HelloFresh settlement was finalized by the court on August 14, 2025 and covers all California residents who were enrolled in an “Automatic Renewal Product Subscription” at any time between January 1, 2019 and August 18, 2025, who were charged for the first shipment without consent, cancelled their subscription after the first shipment, and never received a refund for the unwanted shipment.
The court-approved website for the HelloFresh settlement can be found at https://Grocery-Settlement.com/.
HelloFresh settlement class members who submit a valid, timely claim form are eligible to receive up to a full refund of the amount they paid to HelloFresh as a result of the automatically renewing subscriptions. The amount each class member receives from the HelloFresh settlement may be pro-rated depending on the total number of valid claims that are filed from the $1 million consumer restitution fund.
According to court documents, the remainder of the settlement fund will be distributed among the district attorneys’ offices of several California counties.
Per court documents, payouts will be issued to consumers via check, which must be cashed within 90 days of issuance before expiration.
As part of the settlement, HelloFresh has also agreed to make certain business and promotional changes that more effectively disclose to consumers their enrollment in product subscription services, including larger text notices, clearer terms of service and simpler means of cancellation.
To submit a HelloFresh settlement claim form online, consumers can head to this page and enter the class member ID found on their copy of the settlement notice. Consumers who believe they may be a class member but did not receive a settlement notice should contact the settlement administrator to confirm their identity and receive their login ID.
Alternatively, consumers covered by the deal can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the address listed near the bottom of the document.
HelloFresh settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by December 17, 2025. Payments will begin to be issued to eligible claimants only after this date and after all claims have been reviewed.
