The $425,000 New River Electrical Corp. class action settlement received preliminary court approval on February 18, 2026. The deal covers all United States residents whose private information was compromised in the data breach discovered by NREC in May 2024, including all those individuals who received notice of the breach.
According to court documents, the information of approximately 9,845 people was potentially accessed in the data breach.
The court-approved website for the New River Electrical class action settlement can be found at NRECDataSettlement.com.
Settlement documents state that class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $3,000 for documented out-of-pocket expenses incurred because of the data breach.
This benefit covers expenses related to obtaining credit reports, credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, credit freezes, and more. Class members must submit third-party documentation, such as receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.
In lieu of a documented-loss payment, class members may instead submit a claim form to receive a cash payment of $50. No proof is required to claim this benefit.
The settlement agreement states that documented-loss and alternative cash payments may be reduced on a pro rata basis.
Finally, all class members may submit a claim form to receive an enrollment code for two years of one-bureau credit monitoring. The agreement notes that enrollment codes will be valid for 180 days after issuance.

The court will determine whether to grant the New River Electrical settlement final approval following a hearing on June 29, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The New River Electrical Corp. class action lawsuit alleged that the electrical construction company failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures to protect consumers’ private information from a data breach in April and May of 2024. Per the case, personal information that may have been compromised in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account information.
