The class action settlement, which received preliminary court approval on April 23, 2025, covers a class of approximately 660,981 people in the United States whose personal information was accessed or acquired as a result of the HUB International Limited data breach and/or who were sent a notice letter about the incident.
To receive HUB International data breach settlement benefits, eligible class members must submit a timely, valid claim form by mail or online through the court-approved settlement website once it is established.
ClassAction.org will update this page when the official HUB International settlement website is launched.
According to the settlement agreement, class members can file a HUB settlement claim form for reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket expenses that were “more likely than not” caused by the data breach and incurred between December 1, 2022 and the deadline to submit a claim form. Per the agreement, these monetary losses must be unreimbursed and may include phone or internet usage charges, costs related to credit monitoring or fraud resolution services, bank or other financial institution fees, losses incurred as a result of fraud and other miscellaneous costs.
In lieu of reimbursement for documented losses, class members may file a claim form to receive a $150 cash payment, the HUB International settlement agreement shares.
The aforementioned cash benefits are subject to pro-rated adjustment depending on the total number of claims that are submitted, court documents say.
In addition, as part of the $4,650,000 HUB International class action settlement, all eligible consumers may elect to enroll in two years of three-bureau credit monitoring and identity theft protection services at no cost.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the terms of the HUB International settlement at a hearing on October 6, 2025. Should the deal receive ultimate court approval, HUB settlement payouts and credit monitoring service activation codes will be issued to eligible class members within 60 days following the date the agreement goes into effect.
According to the HUB class action lawsuit, inadequate cybersecurity on the part of the company resulted in a “massive and preventable” data breach, during which an unauthorized third party gained access to certain systems in HUB’s network and copied files stored therein.
The class action suit claimed the cyberattack compromised individuals’ names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers and financial account information.
