$3M Scribd Settlement Ends Lawsuit Over Washington Job Postings

Scribd, Inc. has agreed to a $3,000,000 class action settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged the media company unlawfully failed to disclose wage scales, salary ranges and benefits information in Washington job listings.

The Scribd class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on August 14, 2026. Eligible for the settlement are all individuals who, from January 1, 2023 through August 14, 2026, applied for a job opening in Washington state with Scribd, Inc., where the job posting did not disclose a wage scale or salary range and/or a general description of benefits and other compensation to be offered to a hired applicant.

Court documents state that there are 9,330 people in the settlement class.

The court-approved website for the Scribd class action settlement can be found at EPOASettlementSI.com.

Scribd settlement class members do not need to file a claim form to receive an estimated $219.27 cash payment by mail.

The final amount of each class member’s cash payout will be determined based on how many class members opt out, among other factors such as attorneys’ fees and administration costs.

To receive payment from the settlement, class members must confirm their current mailing address. Class members who wish to update their address, or select a digital payment method, can head to this page and enter the login ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice.

Alternatively, class members who want to update their address can download a PDF change of address form to print, complete, and return via mail or email to the settlement administrator.

The deadline to submit an address update or payment selection is October 12, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Scribd settlement following a hearing on January 15, 2027. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The Scribd class action lawsuit alleged that the document-hosting company failed to disclose required information about wages, salary ranges and benefits in job postings for open positions in Washington, in violation of the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities Act.

The class action settlement website states that Scribd “fully supports the Settlement and will not retaliate in any way” against individuals who participate in the deal.

“Your decision to participate, not participate, or object to the Settlement will not affect your employment with Defendant or Defendant’s treatment of you as an applicant, or current or former employee,” the website states.
