The Word and Brown class action settlement received preliminary court approval on October 22, 2025 and covers all United States residents whose personal information may have been impacted as a result of the data breach, including the approximately 3,506 individuals who were sent notice from Word and Brown of the data incident.
The court-approved website for the Word & Brown data breach settlement can be found at WBIASettlement.com.
According to the settlement site, Word & Brown settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form have multiple options for reimbursement. Class members who submit with their claim form documented proof of out-of-pocket expenses are eligible to receive a one-time cash payment of up to $1,500. The settlement agreement notes that losses must have been incurred after October 1, 2024 because of the data breach, and reimbursable expenses include those related to the misuse of personal information and fraud.
In place of a documented-loss payment, class members may instead file a claim for a one-time cash payment of $45, which may become pro-rated depending on the total number of valid claims filed, the agreement explains.
Finally, all settlement class members are eligible to enroll in two free years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring. Per settlement documents, this includes services such as credit monitoring from IDX Identity Theft Protection, dark web monitoring, identity restoration and recovery services, and identity theft insurance.
To submit a Word & Brown claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the unique CPT ID and passcode found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form from the settlement site to print, complete, and return by mail to the address of the settlement administrator listed at the top of the document.
All Word and Brown settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by February 19, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Word & Brown class action settlement at a hearing on January 7, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed only after final approval is granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Word and Brown Insurance Administrators class action lawsuit alleged that the insurance company did not implement proper security measures and on or about October 23, 2024, it became aware of a data breach in which an unauthorized third party supposedly accessed private consumer data.
