$1.7M TRC Staffing Services Settlement Ends Data Breach Lawsuit Over 2024 Cyber Incident

TRC Staffing Services, Inc. has agreed to a $1.7 million class action settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged the Atlanta-based staffing and workforce solutions company failed to protect confidential information in its care from a data breach in March and April of 2024.

The TRC Staffing Services class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on August 12, 2026. Eligible for the settlement are all United States residents who were sent a notice by TRC informing them that their private information may have been compromised in the data breach.

Court documents state that approximately 158,593 people received notice of the data incident.

Settlement class members who file a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred due to the data breach. This benefit covers losses from identity theft, fraud or falsified tax returns, and costs for credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing/unfreezing credit, long-distance phone calls, and more.

Class members must include proof, such as receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.

In addition, class members can submit a claim form to receive reimbursement for up to four hours of lost time spent responding to the data breach, at a rate of $20 per hour. This benefit covers activities such as communicating with credit bureaus, addressing potentially fraudulent transactions, and more.

In lieu of a documented-loss and/or lost-time payment, class members can file a claim form to receive a pro rata cash payment of up to $200, with no proof required.

The final amount of each class member’s alternative cash payout will be determined based on the total number of valid claims filed, among other factors.

To submit a TRC Staffing Services settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the class member ID found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All TRC Staffing Services settlement claim forms must be filed online or postmarked by December 22, 2026.

The court will decide whether to grant final approval to the TRC Staffing Services data breach settlement following a hearing on January 6, 2027. Settlement benefits will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The TRC Staffing Services class action lawsuit alleged that the Atlanta-based staffing and workforce management company failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive information from a data incident that occurred between approximately March 25 and April 12, 2024.

Court documents state that confidential information that may have been compromised during the incident included names and Social Security numbers.
