$1.6M+ National Tenant Network Settlement Resolves Lawsuit Over Alleged Sharing of Eviction Info

National Tenant Network (NTN) and LCIJ, Inc. have agreed to pay at least $1,625,000 to resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the tenant screening companies unlawfully sent landlords consumer reports in the form of postcards that contained information about prior eviction filings.

The $1,625,000 National Tenant Network class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on June 23, 2026. The deal covers all individuals who were the subject of a postcard sent by NTN and LCIJ, substantially similar to the postcard concerning the plaintiff, from June 30, 2018 to December 3, 2023.

National Tenant Network settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive a pro rata cash payment, with no proof required.

The final amount of each class member’s cash payout will depend on the total number of valid claims filed, among other factors.

To submit a National Tenant Network settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the unique ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can select the PDF claim form that applies to them to download, print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All NTN settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked no later than September 22, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant the National Tenant Network settlement final approval following a hearing on December 8, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The National Tenant Network class action lawsuit alleged that NTN and LCIJ sent consumer reports to landlords in the form of postcards that contained information about a resident’s prior eviction filing, with a statement that the individual “had a previous eviction filing” and “NTN would have warned you about trouble tenants like this BEFORE they became YOUR residents,” in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
