The Comodo Group class action settlement received preliminary court approval on June 16, 2025 and covers anyone in the U.S. who received a telemarketing call with a prerecorded voice from Comodo to their cell number within four years of the complaint’s filing. The court-approved settlement website for the Comodo settlement, ComodoTCPA.com, specifies that four years before the filing of the complaint was July 22, 2012.
Comodo settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form may receive a pro-rata, or equal-share, portion of the $1.625 million settlement fund after the payment of legal and administrative expenses and the lead plaintiff award. The exact payment to be awarded to each claimant will be determined based on several factors, including the number of calls the person received as reflected in call records provided to the court. The maximum payment available per call will be $1,500.
To file a claim form, class members can visit this page of the settlement website and log in with either the unique claim ID and PIN provided in their copy of the settlement notice or the phone number that was called by Comodo. From there, class members may choose to either file a claim online or download and print a personalized PDF claim form to fill out and mail back to the address listed here.
All claim forms must be submitted or postmarked by September 15, 2025.
There will be a hearing on October 27, 2025 to determine if the settlement will receive final approval from the court. Compensation is typically dispensed to class members who submit timely, valid claims after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The Comodo Group class action lawsuit alleged that Comodo violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by sending prerecorded telemarketing calls to consumers without obtaining their prior consent in an attempt to sell SSL certificates.
