A $1.07M South Texas Oncology and Hematology settlement offers cash and credit monitoring to those whose info may have been compromised in a data breach.
South Texas Oncology and Hematology has agreed to a $1,075,000 settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the healthcare provider failed to protect confidential patient information during a February 2024 data breach.

The $1.075 million South Texas Oncology and Hematology class action settlement received preliminary court approval on March 25, 2026. The deal covers all living individuals whose private information may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized party as a result of the South Texas Oncology and Hematology data incident.

According to the settlement agreement, class members who submit a timely, valid claim form are eligible to receive up to $5,000 for out-of-pocket losses arising from the data breach.
Class members must submit third-party documentation, such as receipts or emails, to claim a documented-loss payment.
In lieu of a documented-loss payment, class members may instead submit a claim form to receive an alternative cash payment estimated to be $100. No proof is required to claim this benefit.
The agreement notes that cash payments may increase or decrease on a pro rata basis depending on the total number of valid claims filed.
Lastly, all class members may submit a claim form to receive an enrollment code for two years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which includes identity theft insurance and victim assistance.
To submit a South Texas Oncology and Hematology settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the class member ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, fill out and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All South Texas Oncology settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked no later than July 6, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant the South Texas Oncology and Hematology class action settlement final approval following a hearing on July 21, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The South Texas Oncology and Hematology class action lawsuit alleged that the healthcare provider and cancer treatment center failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures to prevent a data breach on or around February 15, 2024 that may have compromised sensitive patient information. Per the filing, personal information that may have been compromised in the breach included full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, health information, health insurance information, and Social Security numbers.
