Yes Communities Settlement Wraps Up Data Breach Lawsuit Over 2024 Cyber Incident

Yes Communities, LLC has agreed to a class action settlement to resolve litigation that alleged the Denver-based real estate operating company failed to properly safeguard sensitive information from a December 2024 data breach.

The Yes Communities class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on July 22, 2026. The deal covers all individuals in the United States who were sent notice by Yes Communities that their private information was impacted in the data breach. 

Court documents state that the private information of 10,675 people was housed on the Yes Communities network systems targeted by hackers during the cyber incident.

Settlement class members who file a valid, timely claim form can receive up to $2,500 for documented losses related to fraud or identity theft caused by the data breach.

Class members must submit proof with their claim form to receive a documented-loss payout. 

Class members can also file a claim form for reimbursement of up to four hours of lost time spent remedying issues related to the data breach, at a rate of $20 per hour. 

In lieu of a documented-loss and/or lost-time payment, class members can file a claim to receive a $50 alternative cash payment, with no proof required. 

Finally, all class members can elect to receive three years of one-bureau credit monitoring from IDX.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Yes Communities data breach settlement following a hearing on a yet-to-be-scheduled date. Settlement benefits will begin to be distributed after the deal has received final approval and any appeals are resolved.

The Yes Communities class action lawsuit alleged that the company, which owns and operates affordable manufactured home communities in 23 states, failed to properly secure certain residents’ private information from an unauthorized party, who allegedly accessed sensitive files on Yes Communities’ systems between December 9 and December 11, 2024. According to court documents, names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, driver’s license numbers and more were accessed during the incident.
