Importantly, the class action settlement website specifies that not every model and model year vehicle listed above is covered by the VW/Audi turbocharger settlement. Drivers who believe they may be eligible to participate in the turbocharger class action settlement are urged to look up their car’s vehicle identification number on this page.
The court-approved settlement website can be found at TurboClassSettlement.com.
According to the turbocharger settlement website, effective September 15, 2025, Volkswagen will extend the new vehicle limited warranties of generation 3 class vehicles until 8.5 years or 85,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the car’s in-service date to cover 50 percent of the parts-and-labor cost of repair or replacement of a failed or malfunctioning turbocharger by an authorized VW or Audi dealer.
The website specifies that if, as of September 15 of this year, a generation 3 class vehicle is more than 8.5 years from its in-service date, the duration of the warranty extension will be until November 14, 2025 or 85,000 miles from the in-service date, whichever occurs first.
“The Warranty Extension shall not cover or apply to turbocharger/wastegate failures or malfunctions due to abuse, misuse, alteration or modification, lack of proper maintenance, a collision or crash, vandalism and/or other impact, or damage from an outside source,” the class action settlement website points out.
To receive reimbursement for past out-of-pocket repair expenses, eligible Volkswagen and Audi drivers may submit a claim form online or by mail, with certain required documentation, to be repaid for 50 percent of the paid invoice expense of one turbocharger repair or replacement.
More specifically, a settlement class member may submit a claim form for reimbursement if, prior to September 15, 2025 and within 8.5 years or 85,000 miles (whichever occurred first) from their covered vehicle’s in-service date, they had to repair or replace a turbocharger:
- For a Generation 1 (VW or Audi) or Generation 2 (Audi) class vehicle due to the turbocharger’s wastegate no longer functioning properly because of wear at the link plate and pin; or
- For a Generation 3 (VW or Audi) class vehicle due to the wastegate having failed because of fork head and/or link pin corrosion.
If the proof submitted along with a settlement class member’s claim form does not specifically state that the past turbocharger repair or replacement occurred for one of the above-listed reasons, reimbursement to the driver will be for 40 percent of the parts-and-labor invoice amount, the settlement website explains. Per the site, if the turbocharger repair was not performed by an authorized Volkswagen/Audi dealer, then the maximum amount of reimbursement to the driver is $3,850.
To submit a turbocharger class settlement claim form online, head to this page and enter the unique ID and PIN found in the VW notice or Audi notice you should have received about the deal. If you do not have a unique ID and PIN, you may enter your Volkswagen or Audi’s VIN instead.
Alternatively, a PDF of the turbocharger settlement claim form is available to download, fill out and send to the settlement administrator via first-class mail.
Claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by November 29, 2025 to receive class action settlement benefits.
Acceptable supporting documentation to submit with a claim form includes an original or legible copy of a repair invoice documenting the covered repair or replacement and containing:
- the driver’s name;
- the vehicle make, model and identification number;
- the name and address of the authorized VW/Audi dealer or non-dealer service center that performed the repair;
- the date of the repair and the car’s mileage at the time;
- a description of the repair work performed, including a breakdown of parts and labor costs;
- the amount charged for the covered repair; and
- proof of payment.
A final approval hearing is scheduled for December 4, 2025. It is typically after a class action settlement has been granted final approval from the court that cash payouts and reimbursements begin to be distributed to eligible class members.
