The St. Joseph’s College class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court in August 2025 and covers all United States residents whose private information was impacted by the data breach.
The court-approved website for the St. Joseph’s College settlement can be found at StJosephsDataSettlement.com.
According to the website, St. Joseph’s College settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form will be eligible to receive credit monitoring services and up to $2,000 per person in reimbursement for data breach-related losses.
All claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by December 29, 2025.
To submit a claim form, class members can visit this page of the settlement website and log in with their last name and unique notice ID, which is typically provided in the personalized settlement notice issued about the deal.
From there, class members may choose to either submit the St. Joseph’s College settlement claim form online or download a PDF copy to return by mail or email to the settlement administrator.
Per the settlement agreement, the deal offers eligible class members two years of one-bureau credit monitoring services with at least $1,000,000 in identity theft insurance.
In addition, the website shares that consumers can file a claim form to receive compensation for unreimbursed losses linked to the incident that are supported by documentation and were incurred between December 15, 2023 and December 29, 2025. Per the site, qualifying losses may include, but are not limited to:
- Expenses related to fraud or identity theft;
- Certain credit monitoring charges, credit repair service fees or costs linked to freezing or unfreezing credit with any credit reporting agency;
- Attorneys’ or accountants’ fees; and
- Miscellaneous expenses such as fax, copying, notary, mileage, postage and long-distance telephone charges.
As part of the class action settlement, class members may also submit a claim form for up to four hours of lost time spent dealing with issues related to the data breach, at a rate of $25 per hour, the website says. The settlement agreement stipulates that any claims for lost time are subject to the $2,000 cap for unreimbursed expenses.
A hearing is scheduled for March 20, 2026 to determine whether the St. Joseph’s College class action settlement will receive final approval from the court. The site notes that settlement benefits will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The St. Joseph’s College data breach reportedly involved unauthorized access to the school’s network between December 15, 2023 and January 24, 2024. According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's office, the incident impacted the personal information of 126,580 people.
