The Schuster Company class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on May 15, 2026. The agreement covers all United States residents whose personal information was compromised in the January 2024 data breach, including all who received notice of the incident.
The court-approved website for the Schuster Company data breach settlement can be found at SchusterDataIncident.com.
Schuster settlement class members who file a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $2,500 for out-of-pocket losses incurred between January 23, 2024 and September 14, 2026 due to the breach. This benefit covers losses resulting from fraud or identity theft and costs of credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing or unfreezing credit, replacement IDs, postage, and more.
Class members must submit proof, such as receipts, to receive an out-of-pocket loss payout.
Under this benefit, class members can also receive reimbursement for up to four hours of lost time spent responding to the data breach, at a rate of $20 per hour.
In lieu of an out-of-pocket loss payment, class members can instead file a claim form to receive a $50 cash payment, with no proof required.
Finally, in addition to either monetary relief option, all class members can file a claim form to receive two years of CyEx Financial Shield, which includes one-bureau credit monitoring.
To file a Schuster settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the login ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Schuster Company settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by September 14, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Schuster Company class action settlement following a hearing on September 28, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval is granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Schuster Company class action lawsuit alleged that the Iowa-based refrigerated trucking and product transportation company failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures to protect the sensitive information of current and former employees and clients, which allegedly led to a data breach between January 23 and January 30, 2024.
Per court documents, private information potentially exposed during the breach included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and driver’s license or state identification numbers.
