A Northwell Health settlement offers cash and privacy monitoring to end a class action over the alleged sharing of patients’ data without consent.

Northwell Health will offer cash payments and privacy monitoring as part of a class action settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged New York’s largest health system shared patients’ personal information with third parties, including Meta and Google, without consent.

The Northwell Health class action settlement received preliminary court approval on December 10, 2025 and covers all patients who logged into Northwell’s FollowMyHealth patient portal between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023; all patients who booked an appointment on Northwell.edu between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023; and all other individuals who were patients of Northwell between January 1, 2020 and July 25, 2024.

Northwell Health settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive 12 months of CyEx Privacy Shield Pro, which offers a virtual private network (VPN), a private search engine, dark web monitoring for personal information leaks, a multi-device password manager and an encrypted digital vault for important documents, and the option to automatically send requests to data brokers for the removal of subscribers’ personal information.
Class members who logged into Northwell’s FollowMyHealth patient portal or who booked an appointment on Northwell.edu between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023 will be able to receive both the 12-month privacy monitoring services and a cash payment of $15, the class action settlement website shares.
To file a Northwell settlement claim form online, class members can visit this page of the settlement website and log in with the unique notice ID and PIN found in their copy of the settlement notice.
Alternatively, a PDF claim form is available to print, fill out and mail back to the address listed on the final page of the document.
All Northwell Health settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by April 20, 2026.
A hearing is scheduled for April 21, 2026 to determine whether the Northwell Health class action settlement will receive final approval from the court. Settlement benefits will begin to be distributed only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The Northwell Health class action lawsuit claimed that the healthcare provider installed tracking tools on its website to collect and transmit users’ sensitive health and personal information to third parties, including Google and Meta, without consent.
