Margaret Mary Health Settlement Offers Cash, Data Protection to End Class Action Lawsuit Over Alleged Data Sharing

Margaret Mary Health has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that it disclosed patients’ private data to third parties without consent.

Margaret Mary Health (MMH) has agreed to offer cash payments and data protection services to settle a class action lawsuit that alleged that the Indiana-based healthcare provider illegally disclosed patients’ sensitive personal and health information to third parties without consent.

The Margaret Mary Health class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on September 16, 2025 and covers all MMH patients residing in the United States who logged into a patient portal account between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023.
The court-approved website for the Margaret Mary Health settlement can be found at MMCHSettlement.com.
According to court documents, eligible MMH settlement class members will automatically receive an enrollment code for one year of Privacy Shield Pro services, which can be found at the top of the settlement notice. Further enrollment instructions will be sent out within 30 days following the date the deal goes into effect, should it be granted final approval by the court, the settlement agreement says.
Class members who submit a timely, valid claim form are also eligible to receive a $25 cash payment.
All claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by December 1, 2025.
To submit a claim form online, class members can visit this page of the Margaret Mary Health settlement website and log in with the unique notice ID and PIN found in their copy of the settlement notice.
Alternatively, a PDF claim form is available to print, fill out and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
A hearing is scheduled for December 18, 2025 to determine whether the MMH settlement will receive final approval from the court. Per the website, settlement payments will be distributed to eligible class members within 30 days after the deal has been granted ultimate approval and any appeals have been resolved.
The Margaret Mary Health class action lawsuit claimed the healthcare provider unlawfully shared patients’ confidential data with Meta, Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Hotjar and potentially other third parties via tracking technologies embedded into the MMH website.
