La Jolla Group Settlement Ends Data Breach Lawsuit Over 2023 Cybersecurity Incident

La Jolla Group has agreed to a class action settlement to resolve a lawsuit that alleged the apparel and accessories company failed to safeguard confidential employee information from a November 2023 data breach.

The La Jolla Group class action settlement received preliminary court approval on July 23, 2026. Eligible for the settlement are all current and former La Jolla Group employees who reside in the United States and whose information was impacted by the cybersecurity incident experienced by La Jolla in or around November 2023.

Court documents state that 3,455 people are included in the settlement class.

The court-approved La Jolla Group data breach settlement website can be found at LJGDataSettlement.com.

La Jolla Group class members who file a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $2,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred due to the data breach. This benefit covers losses from identity theft or fraud and costs for credit monitoring or identity theft protection services.

Class members must submit proof, such as bank statements or receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.

Should the total amount of all documented-loss payments exceed $50,000, payments to class members will be reduced on a pro rata (proportional) basis.

In addition, class members can submit a claim form to receive reimbursement for up to four hours of lost time spent dealing with issues related to the cybersecurity incident, at a rate of $25 per hour. This benefit covers activities such as reviewing accounts for signs of identity theft or fraud or researching the incident. 

Payments for lost time will count toward the $2,000 per-person cap for documented-loss payments.

In lieu of a documented-loss payment, class members can file a claim form to receive a $45 cash payment, with no proof required.

Class members who were California residents at the time of the data incident can receive a $95 cash payout from the class action settlement.

Lastly, all class members can elect on their claim form to receive two years of one-bureau credit monitoring and identity theft insurance.

To submit a La Jolla Group settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the claim number and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All La Jolla Group settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by November 23, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the La Jolla Group data breach settlement following a hearing on December 17, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The La Jolla Group class action lawsuit alleged that the Irvine, California-based apparel and accessories company, which provides business solutions for lifestyle brands, failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures to protect current and former employees’ sensitive information, which was allegedly posted on the dark web as a result of a November 2023 data breach.
