Hancock Regional Hospital has settled a class action lawsuit that alleged it shared patients’ data with third parties without consent.

Hancock Regional Hospital, doing business as Hancock Health, will offer cash payments and free access to digital privacy products as part of a class action settlement resolving claims that it shared patients’ sensitive personal data with third parties without consent.

The Hancock Regional Hospital class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on September 16, 2025 and covers all Hancock Health patients who are United States residents and who logged into a patient portal account between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023.
The court-approved website for the Hancock Health settlement can be found at HHSettlement.com.
Hancock Health settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form will be able to receive a $25 cash payment.
Additionally, no action is required by class members to receive a year of Privacy Shield Pro, a digital privacy product that includes features such as Dark Web Watchlist, Password Scan, Password Defense, VPN In Touch, Private Search, Data Broker Opt-Out and Digital Vault.
Class members can find their enrollment code for Privacy Shield Pro in their copy of the Hancock Regional Hospital settlement notice.
To submit a claim form online, class members can visit this page of the settlement website and log in with the unique notice ID and PIN found in their copy of the settlement notice.
Alternatively, a PDF claim form is available to print, fill out and mail back to the address listed on the form.
All Hancock Health class action settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by December 1, 2025.
A hearing is scheduled for December 18, 2025 to determine whether the settlement will receive final court approval. Settlement benefits will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The Hancock Health class action lawsuit claimed that the healthcare provider disclosed patients’ sensitive personal and health data to third-party technologies, including Facebook, without consent.
