Interfor U.S. Inc. is facing a former employee’s allegations that it failed to include shift premiums when determining his overtime wages and underpaid him as a result.
Interfor U.S. Inc. is facing a former employee’s allegations that it failed to include shift premiums when determining his overtime wages and underpaid him as a result. The plaintiff says he was employed at the defendant’s sawmill and production facility as a production worker and frequently put in more than 40 hours of work per week. He claims he and other production workers were paid an hourly wage plus “shift premiums…for a certain number of hours on certain shifts.” The suit argues that the defendant neglected to include these extra wages when determining employees’ regular rate of pay in its time-and-a-half overtime calculations and paid them less than they were owed as a result.
