In a proposed class action recently removed from state to federal California court, two former L’Oreal USA S/D, Inc. employees allege they are owed overtime wages stemming from off-the-clock work.

In a proposed class action recently removed from state to federal California court, two former L’Oreal USA S/D, Inc. employees allege they are owed overtime wages stemming from off-the-clock work.
According to the lawsuit, L’Oreal did not permit the employees to leave after clocking out for breaks and at the end of each shift until they underwent loss prevention inspections, resulting in unpaid overtime wages. The plaintiffs also allege that their pay was further reduced when they, “[a]s a result of their rigorous work schedules,” were not fully relieved of all duties during designated off-the-clock meal and rest periods. Additionally, they claim they are owed penalty payments – equal to one hour of wages – for each missed break, as required by state labor law.
