Autobell Car Wash Settlement Ends Lawsuit Over 2024 Data Breach

Autobell Car Wash has signed on to a settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the popular car wash chain failed to protect personal information from a targeted cyberattack in April 2024.

The Autobell Car Wash class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on July 8, 2026. Eligible to participate in the settlement are all United States residents who were provided notice that their personal information was involved in the April 2024 Autobell data breach.

Court documents state that approximately 52,714 people received notice of the cyberattack.

Autobell settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred due to the data breach. This benefit covers losses from identity theft or fraud and costs for credit reports, credit monitoring, payment card fees, bank fees, replacement IDs, long-distance phone charges, and more.

Class members must submit proof, such as receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.

In addition, class members can file a claim to receive reimbursement for up to four hours of lost time spent dealing with the data breach, at a rate of $25 per hour. Reimbursement for lost time is included in the $5,000 limit for documented-loss payments.

In lieu of a documented-loss or lost-time payment, class members can submit a claim form to receive a $45 cash payment, with no proof required.

Lastly, all class members can elect on their claim form to receive two years of three-bureau credit monitoring, which includes identity theft insurance, dark web scanning, public records monitoring, and more.

To submit an Autobell Car Wash settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the unique ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All Autobell Car Wash settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by November 12, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Autobell settlement following a hearing on November 9, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The Autobell Car Wash class action lawsuit alleged that the family-owned car wash chain failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures to protect personal information, including names and Social Security numbers, from a cyberattack between April 1 and April 7, 2024.
