The Natera class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on September 2, 2026. Eligible for the settlement are all individuals in the United States who, had Panorama or Horizon tests performed by Natera and were billed more than $249 for noninvasive prenatal testing without microdeletions, $349 for noninvasive prenatal testing with microdeletions, or $349 for genetic carrier screening between July 10, 2019 and September 2, 2026.
The court-authorized website for the Natera class action settlement can be found at GeneticScreeningTestSettlement.com.
Settlement class members for whom Natera’s records show proof of payment for out-of-pocket costs in excess of $249 or $349, depending on the test, can file a claim form to receive a pro rata (proportional) cash payment. The amount of this payout will be based in part on how much a class member paid out-of-pocket in excess of $249 or $349, depending on the test, and how many other class members with proof of payment file valid claim forms.
Class members for whom Natera’s records do not show proof of payment can file a claim form to receive a cash payment of up to $50.
Class members can determine whether Natera has proof of their out-of-pocket expenses by checking the ID number on the email or postcard notice sent on or after October 2, 2026.
Numbers that begin with “A” indicate that Natera’s records contain proof of the class member’s out-of-pocket payment, while numbers beginning with “B” indicate that Natera’s records do not show proof of the class member’s out-of-pocket payment.
To file a Natera settlement claim form online, class members can navigate to this page and enter the class member ID found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Natera settlement claim forms must be submitted online or received by the settlement administrator by May 3, 2027.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Natera class action settlement following a hearing on March 2, 2027. Settlement benefits will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.
The Natera class action lawsuit alleged that the genetic testing company failed to clearly inform patients about potential out-of-pocket costs for the Panorama and Horizon tests, in violation of California’s Unfair Competition Law and Consumers Legal Remedies Act.
