The Geisinger Health class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on November 18, 2025 and covers all United States residents whose personally identifiable information or personal health information may have been compromised during the November 2023 data breach, including all individuals to whom Geisinger sent a notice of the incident.
The court-approved website for the Geisinger data breach settlement can be found at GeisingerDataSettlement.com.
According to the website, Geisinger settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form are eligible to receive multiple benefits. Per settlement documents, class members who submit their claim form with documented proof of out-of-pocket losses are eligible to receive a one-time cash payment of up to $5,000. The settlement agreement outlines that reimbursable losses must have been incurred as a result of the November 2023 data breach, and include those related to fraud, credit monitoring, cost of credit reports, and bank fees.
In place of a documented loss payment, class members may instead elect to receive an alternative one-time cash payment. Alternative cash payments will be a pro rata (equal share) portion of what remains in the net settlement fund after all other expenses and benefits have been paid, the agreement reports.
In addition to any monetary benefits, all class members are eligible to enroll in one free year of identity theft protection services, which include three-bureau credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, dark web monitoring, medical records monitoring, health insurance information monitoring, and health savings account monitoring, according to the settlement site.
To submit a Geisinger claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the unique ID found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members may download a PDF of the claim form from the settlement website to print, fill out, and return by mail to the address of the settlement administrator listed on the first page of the document.
All Geisinger class action settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by March 18, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Geisinger Health data breach settlement at a hearing on March 16, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to consumers only after final approval has been granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Geisinger Health class action lawsuit claimed that the healthcare provider, along with Nuance Communications—a software technology company that licenses its professional services to Geisinger—failed to enact reasonable security measures, allowing for a former Nuance employee to allegedly breach its network and gain access to files containing sensitive patient information on or around November 29, 2023.
