Ciuni & Panichi, Inc. has agreed to a $592,500 settlement to end a class action lawsuit that alleged the accounting firm failed to protect sensitive information in its care from a November 2024 data breach.

The $592,500 Ciuni & Panichi class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on April 20, 2026. The agreement covers all individuals who were sent notice from Ciuni & Panichi indicating that their private information may have been compromised in the November 2024 data breach.
Court documents state that approximately 25,593 people are covered by the class action settlement.

Ciuni & Panichi settlement class members who file a valid, timely claim form can receive up to $5,000 for out-of-pocket losses incurred in or after November 2024 due to the data breach. This benefit covers losses related to fraud or identity theft and the costs of professional fees, credit repair services, credit monitoring, freezing or unfreezing credit, and more.
Class members must submit proof, such as bank statements or receipts, to receive an out-of-pocket loss payment.
Additionally, class members can file a claim to receive a pro rata cash payment of approximately $125, with no proof required. The final amount of this cash payout may increase or decrease, depending on the number of claims filed, among other factors.
To file a Ciuni & Panichi settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the login ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.
All Ciuni & Panichi settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by August 18, 2026.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Ciuni & Panichi settlement following a hearing on September 23, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval is granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Ciuni & Panichi class action lawsuit claimed that the Ohio-based accounting and financial advisory firm failed to implement proper cybersecurity safeguards to protect the sensitive information in its care, which allegedly led to a November 2024 data breach. Per court documents, private information potentially exposed during the incident included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and other personally identifiable information collected by the firm.
