The Dobson Technologies class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on August 15, 2025, and covers any United States resident whose personal information may have been impacted during the Dobson Technologies data incident, including those who received notice of the data breach from Dobson.
The court-approved website for the Dobson Technologies class action settlement can be found at https://www.DobsonTechSettlement.com/.
Dobson settlement class members who submit a valid, timely claim form with evidence of documented, out-of-pocket expenses stemming from the data breach can receive a one-time cash payout of up to $2,000. Proof of data breach-related expenses can include receipts and bank statements that include proof of expenses such as fees for credit reports, freezing and unfreezing credit, costs to replace IDs, and losses from identity fraud.
Consumers who submit a claim form for reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses may also claim up to four hours of lost time spent dealing with the effects of the data breach, at a rate of $20 per hour, the settlement site adds. This benefit counts toward the $2,000 cap for out-of-pocket reimbursement, the website states.
Class members may also submit a claim form to receive a one-time cash payout of $50. Both payment options from the class action settlement can be sent to an eligible class member via check or electronic payment.
In addition to the cash payout options, all class members can also file a claim to receive one free year of three-bureau credit monitoring services, which includes $1 million in identity theft protection insurance.
To submit a settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the class member ID found in their copy of the settlement notice. Consumers who believe they are a class member but did not receive a notice should contact the settlement administrator to confirm their identity and receive their login ID.
Alternatively, class members can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out, and return by mail to the address listed near the top of the form.
Dobson Technologies settlement claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by December 4, 2025.
The class action settlement website adds that class members who submit a valid claim will have 90 days to cash their check after the date of issuance before it expires.
The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the Dobson settlement at a hearing on January 19, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval is granted and any appeals are resolved.
The Dobson Technologies class action lawsuit claimed that a targeted cyberattack on the Internet and home security provider compromised the private information of its customers. Per the lawsuit, the data accessed during the four-month breach included, but was not limited to, full names, driver’s license and state identification numbers, passport numbers, financial account information, Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification, home addresses and credit card numbers.
