The court-authorized website for the University of Rochester Medical Center class action settlement can be found at URMCWebsiteSettlement.com.
The settlement agreement covers a class of 699,406 consumers who accessed or used URMC’s MyChart patient portal between January 11, 2021 and January 11, 2023 or filled out forms on its public website between January 1, 2018 and June 12, 2023.
To receive a URMC settlement cash payout, eligible class members must submit a valid claim form by July 21, 2025.
You can file a URMC settlement claim form online on this page. Alternatively, you may download a PDF claim form to print or contact the settlement administrator to request a paper copy to complete and return by mail or email.
To submit a claim form online through the official URMC settlement website, you will need to provide your unique ID and PIN, which are located on the settlement notice you should have received.
According to the website, class members who file a timely, valid claim form are eligible to receive a pro-rated share of the $2,850,000 settlement fund after the payment of attorneys’ fees, administrative costs, litigation expenses and service awards.
Individual payout amounts will depend on the total number of valid claims that are submitted, the site adds.
The deal with URMC received preliminary court approval on April 10, 2025. The court must now decide whether to grant final approval to the terms of the URMC class action settlement at a hearing on August 21, 2025.
The settlement agreement says that should the deal receive ultimate approval, and after any appeals are resolved, benefits will be issued within 30 days following the date the settlement goes into effect.
The class action lawsuit against URMC accused the healthcare provider of violating federal and state privacy laws by embedding into its website and patient portal a tracking tool known as a Meta pixel, which, per the case, harvested users’ confidential medical data without their knowledge or consent.
