$18.8M+ O’Reilly Automotive Settlement Ends Lawsuit Over Alleged Spam Texts

O’Reilly Automotive has agreed to a more than $18.8 million settlement to resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the auto parts retailer unlawfully sent telemarketing text messages to phone numbers on the National Do-Not-Call Registry without consent.

The $18,842,577 O’Reilly Automotive class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on June 29, 2026. The deal covers all individuals in the United States whose telephone numbers were registered on the National Do-Not-Call Registry for at least 30 days and who received more than one text message from or on behalf of O’Reilly Automotive within any 12-month period after the telephone number was reassigned to them from April 15, 2021 to June 29, 2026.

Individuals who made an online or in-store purchase from O’Reilly Automotive in the 18 months preceding the text messages may have their settlement claims denied, the settlement website states.

O’Reilly Automotive settlement class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive an estimated $22 cash payment, with no proof required.

Should the total amount of payments to class members exceed the aggregate settlement cap, payouts will be decreased on a pro rata basis.

To submit an O’Reilly Automotive settlement claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the claim ID found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete, and return by mail to the settlement administrator.

All O’Reilly Automotive settlement claim forms must be submitted online or postmarked by September 28, 2026.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the O’Reilly Automotive text message settlement following a hearing on November 5, 2026. Compensation will begin to be distributed to class members only after final approval has been granted and any appeals have been resolved.

The O’Reilly Automotive class action lawsuit alleged that the Springfield, Missouri-based auto parts retailer sent telemarketing text messages to consumers whose phone numbers were on the National Do-Not-Call Registry and who did not consent to receiving the texts, in violation of the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
