$10M Advance Auto Parts Settlement Ends Data Breach Lawsuit Over Snowflake Cyberattack

Advance Auto Parts has agreed to pay a settlement to resolve litigation over a 2024 data breach that exposed the personal information of roughly 2.3 million people.
Advance Auto Parts and subsidiary Advance Stores Company, Incorporated have agreed to pay a $10 million settlement to resolve multidistrict litigation over a 2024 data breach that reportedly exposed the personal information of roughly 2.3 million job applicants and current and former employees.

The deal, which received preliminary court approval on May 22, 2025, covers all individuals in the United States whose private information was potentially compromised as a result of the data breach affecting Advance Auto Parts and who were sent notice of the incident.
Eligible class members who submit valid claims online or by mail by October 8, 2025 will be entitled to receive Advance Auto Parts settlement benefits, including cash payments and/or credit monitoring.
Advance Auto Parts settlement claim forms can be filed online on this page. Class members who prefer to submit by mail can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return to the settlement administrator.
Claimants will need to provide their class member ID, which is typically found on the personalized settlement notice issued about the deal. Those who have misplaced their ID number can reach out to the settlement administrator to obtain it, court documents state.

Under the terms of the settlement agreement, class members who file a timely, valid claim form will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 per person in compensation for unreimbursed monetary losses that are related to the data breach and supported by documentation.
According to the official Advance Auto Parts settlement website, consumers may also submit a claim for either two years of complimentary credit and identity monitoring services or an estimated $100 cash payment. The final payment amount is subject to adjustment on a pro rata basis depending on the total number of valid claims that are filed, the settlement agreement notes.
Moreover, California residents can submit a claim for an additional $100 cash payout, which may also be increased or decreased if needed, the website says.
In addition, as part of the deal, the companies have agreed to take steps to further secure their computer systems in response to the cyberattack, the agreement relays.

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the terms of the Advance Auto Parts class action settlement at a hearing on October 23, 2025.
The settlement agreement shares that should the deal receive ultimate court approval, settlement benefits will be distributed to eligible class members within 75 days following the approval or the date the deal goes into effect, whichever is later.
Court documents explain that in May 2024, Advance Auto Parts learned it had been affected by a data breach involving Snowflake, a third-party cloud storage vendor that the company used to house applicants’ and employees’ private information.
According to the settlement agreement, the incident may have exposed individuals’ names, Social Security numbers and driver’s license or state ID numbers, among other highly sensitive data.
