Issue #255

PurFoods Data Breach, Brita Water Filters and More

In this issue, we’re covering a few new investigations – starting with one into PurFoods, also known as Mom’s Meals. The home delivery meal company recently announced a data breach affecting more than 1.2 million people. So, if you’ve received notice of this breach, you’ll want to check out our first story.

After that, more auto insurers have been added to an investigation into how insurance companies handle rental car coverage after a total loss, and a new investigation looks into how Amen Clinics pays (or potentially underpays) certain employees. We’ll round things out with an ongoing case claiming that Brita overstates the capabilities of its water filters. Keep reading for the latest.

PurFoods Data Breach: Was Your Information Exposed?

If you received a notice from PurFoods stating that your information may have been exposed in a data breach, attorneys working with ClassAction.org want to speak with you. They’re investigating whether a class action can be filed against the health-conscious meal delivery company, which does business as Mom’s Meals, in light of a cyberattack that reportedly took place between January 16 and February 22, 2023. The breach is said to have affected customers of the company who received at least one meal delivery, as well as current and former employees and independent contractors. Learn more here.

Did Your Rental Car Insurance Get Cut Short After a Total Loss Claim?

More insurance companies are being looked into as part of an ongoing investigation into whether some auto insurers are cutting off consumers’ rental car payments too soon. Rental reimbursement policies typically provide about 30 days of coverage for a rental car when the insured vehicle is deemed a total loss, but attorneys working with ClassAction.org believe some insurance companies may be violating the terms of their policies by cutting off coverage before then. The attorneys are now looking into American Family, Allstate, Goodville, The Hartford, Nationwide, Travelers, Liberty Mutual and others. Want more? Read up on the investigation here.

Attorneys Suspect Certain Amen Clinics Employees May Not Have Been Paid Properly

If you worked for Amen Clinics as an hourly employee within the past three years, it’s possible you were illegally underpaid. Specifically, attorneys working with ClassAction.org believe some workers may have been required to work off the clock during unpaid breaks or before and after shifts without receiving proper pay. They’re now looking into whether legal action can be taken on behalf of patient care coordinators, patient outcome managers, customer service representatives, client care coordinators and other hourly Amen Clinics employees. Learn more here.

Brita Water Filters – Not as Effective as Advertised?
A recently filed proposed class action is alleging that the Brita Company has overstated the capabilities of its water filtration pitchers, dispensers and filters. Specifically, the case claims that Brita misled customers into believing that its products can remove common contaminants from drinking water when they aren’t nearly as effective as advertised. You can find a detailed look at the allegations being made here.
