Up to $3.4M American Income Life Insurance, Globe Life Settlement Resolves Data Breach Class Action Lawsuit

American Income Life Insurance Company and Globe Life Inc. have agreed to an up to $3.4 million class action settlement, resolving litigation over an October 2024 data breach that impacted current and former customers’ sensitive information.

The American Income/Globe Life class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on July 30, 2026. Eligible to participate in the settlement are the 532,578 individuals who were sent notice via letter from American Income Life Insurance Company and Globe Life Inc. that their personal information may have been exposed in the data breach on or around October 2, 2024. 

The court-approved website for the data breach settlement can be found at AILDataSettlement.com. 

Class members who submit a valid, timely claim form can receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses caused by the data breach. This benefit covers losses from identity theft or fraud and costs of credit monitoring, freezing/unfreezing credit, replacing IDs, professional fees, bank charges and more.

Class members must submit proof, such as receipts or correspondence, to receive a documented-loss payment. 

In addition to a documented-loss payout, class members can receive reimbursement for up to four hours of lost time spent dealing with the data breach, at a rate of $18 per hour. This benefit covers, for example, time spent dealing with anxiety, stress and loss of sleep due to the data breach. 

Lastly, all class members are eligible to receive two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete, an all-in-one financial and identity protection product. All settlement class members have been provided with an activation code, which can be used to enroll in the credit monitoring product after the deal receives final approval and goes into effect. 

To submit a claim form for the American Income Life Insurance Co. Globe Life settlement online, class members can head to this page and enter the settlement class member ID found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail to the settlement administrator. 

American Income/Globe Life settlement claim forms must be filed online or by mail by October 19, 2026. 

The court will determine whether to grant final approval to the class action settlement following a hearing on December 14, 2026. Settlement benefits will be made available after the deal receives final approval and any appeals are resolved. 

The data breach class action lawsuit alleged that McKinney, Texas-based Globe Life and Waco-based subsidiary American Income Life Insurance Company failed to adequately safeguard current and former customers’ private information from unauthorized access, an incident that was reported publicly in a Form 8-K with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 17, 2024. 

Court documents claim that the data incident, which occurred on or around October 2, 2024, impacted the names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, health information and insurance policy details of 532,578 people.
