The Excel Fitness class action settlement received preliminary approval from the court on May 19, 2026. The deal covers all current and former Excel Fitness Management employees residing in the United States whose personal information was potentially accessible during the data breach discovered by Excel Fitness Consolidator, LLC (doing business as Excel Fitness Management) in January 2025, including all who received notice of the incident.
The court-approved website for the Excel Fitness class action settlement can be found at ExcelFitnessDataSettlement.com.
Excel Fitness settlement class members who submit a valid, timely claim form can receive up to $4,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred between January 17, 2025 and September 21, 2026 due to the data breach. This benefit covers losses stemming from fraud or identity theft and costs for credit reports, credit monitoring, freezing/unfreezing credit, replacing IDs, and more.
Class members must submit proof, such as bank statements or receipts, to receive a documented-loss payment.
In addition, class members can also submit a claim form for up to three hours of lost time spent responding to the Excel Fitness data breach, at a rate of $25 per hour. Some examples of activities covered by this benefit include changing passwords, investigating suspicious account activity and researching the cyberattack.
In lieu of a documented-loss and/or lost-time payout, class members can file a claim form for a $50 cash payment, with no proof required. The amount of each class member’s cash payout may be larger or smaller, depending on the total number of valid claims filed.
Lastly, all class members can elect on their claim form to enroll in two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete, which includes identity theft insurance and financial monitoring.
To submit an Excel Fitness Management claim form online, class members can head to this page and enter the login ID and PIN found on their copy of the settlement notice. Alternatively, class members can download a PDF of the claim form to print, fill out and mail back to the settlement administrator.
All Excel Fitness claim forms must be submitted online or by mail by September 21, 2026.
The court will decide whether to grant the Excel Fitness Management data breach settlement final approval following a hearing on February 4, 2027. Settlement benefits will begin to be distributed only after final approval has been granted and any appeals are resolved.
The class action lawsuit against Excel Fitness Management alleged that the company, which operates more than 160 Planet Fitness locations across Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Utah and Virginia, failed to safeguard certain sensitive files in its systems from unauthorized access, allegedly leading to a “targeted cyberattack” in January 2025.
Information impacted in the data breach included names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, financial account details, and more, the lawsuit claimed.
