Two former food preparers have filed a class action lawsuit against the owning, operating and managing entities of high-end New York Italian restaurant A Voce.
Two former food preparers have filed a class action lawsuit against the owning, operating and managing entities of high-end New York Italian restaurant A Voce claiming they are owed a full week’s pay and overtime wages for the week before the restaurant closed in late August 2016. (Due to financial problems, the owner of A Voce petitioned for bankruptcy in June 2016. The restaurant remained open through late August.)
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs were not paid for any of their time worked, including for a “substantial amount of overtime,” after August 12, 2016. Plaintiffs say at least 14 other A Voce employees also worked through the restaurant’s closing day, but were not paid anything after receiving their August 12 paychecks.
