A wheelchair-bound woman has filed a proposed class action lawsuit against the companies that operate two Staybridge Suites hotels in Georgia, alleging the defendants discriminate against disabled individuals by failing to provide wheelchair-accessible shuttle services at their hotels.
The case says the defendants, Inter-Continental Hotels Corporation and Intercontinental Hotels Group Resources, Inc., operate various hotels across the country – including the two Staybridge Suites locations in Alpharetta and Atlanta – that offer guests complimentary shuttle services. Upon calling the defendants’ hotels and inquiring about transportation services, the plaintiff was supposedly informed that the defendants did not offer wheelchair-accessible shuttles, or any alternative transportation service, that could accommodate guests with disabilities. The case argues that this is a blatant violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as it denies disabled individuals the same or equivalent services as those offered to non-disabled guests.
