A proposed class of explosive detection canine handlers alleges the individuals worked a substantial amount of overtime without proper compensation.
A lawsuit filed against Michael Stapleton Associates, Ltd on behalf of a proposed class of explosive detection canine handlers alleges the individuals worked a substantial amount of overtime without proper compensation. The plaintiff claims he worked an average of 20 to 35 hours per week training the defendant’s bomb-sniffing dogs as part of his regular job duties and was never paid time-and-a-half hourly overtime wages for all hours worked over 40 in a given workweek – time primarily spent training dogs. The case claims the defendant, which does business as MSA Security and provides security, intelligence, training and investigative services, instead pays explosive detection canine handlers a flat $400 monthly stipend for expenses in lieu of proper overtime pay.
