JAL Chemical Co., Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit filed out of Arkansas federal court by a former employee who claims he was not properly compensated for his overtime hours. The plaintiff says he worked for JAL – which does business as Teph Seal – as an automotive detailing technician. According to the complaint, the defendant required him to work an average of 12 hours per day, but only paid him for eight. He cities alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Arkansas Minimum Wage Act, and argues that he is owed time-and-a-half overtime wages for all the hours he worked above 40 each week.
