A proposed class action claims Coast to Coast Financial Solutions attempted to collect an illegal $5 fee from consumers.
Indiana
Coast to Coast Financial Solutions, Inc. is the defendant in a proposed class action claiming the company violated federal debt collection laws. Filed in Indiana, the lawsuit alleges Coast to Coast sent the plaintiff a collection notice over a debt supposedly owed to Republic Services that read, in part:
The case summarily alleges the defendant’s attempt to collect this additional $5 fee violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) in that Coast to Coast “created the very real risk of harm” that the plaintiff would ultimately end up paying more money than he owed. Moreover, the case argues the defendant was not legally permitted to charge such a fee.
