Filed: November 16, 2016 ◆§ 3:16-cv-02808-L-NLS
Colgate-Palmolive Company and Tom's of Maine, Inc. are facing a class action lawsuit over the latter's allegedly deceptive 'natural' products labels.
Colgate-Palmolive Company and Tom’s of Maine, Inc. are facing a class action lawsuit over the latter’s allegedly deceptive “natural” products labels. Filed in California, the case claims the labels on certain Tom’s of Maine products purport them to be all natural when they actually contain a laundry list of processed chemicals, including:
- Aluminum chlorohydrate
- Ascorbic acid
- Glycerin
- Potassium nitrate
- Propanediol
- Sodium cocoyl glutamate
The suit names many Tom’s of Maine products that may have been deceptively labeled, including a wide array of oral care, baby care, lip care and body care products. The complaint argues the defendants specifically target customers looking to buy natural products with misleading marketing and advertising on television and social media.
