The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) and InfoCision, Inc., which does business as InfoCision Management Corporation, are the defendants in a proposed class action that alleges the gun rights group and privately-held teleservices company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The 22-page complaint out of Virginia claims the defendants unlawfully placed unauthorized telemarketing calls using an automatic telephone dialing system to consumers’ cell phones and landlines. InfoCision, the complaint notes, provides “inbound and outbound call center solutions” to Fortune 100 companies and non-profit organizations.

The lawsuit claims the alleged robocalls were made in an attempt to sell NRA memberships and placed by InfoCision on behalf of the NRA without first obtaining consumers’ prior express consent to be called.
