Walker v. W BBQ Holdings, Inc
Filed: May 23, 2017 ◆§ 2:17-cv-03107
W BBQ Holdings, Inc., which operates ten Dallas BBQ restaurants in New York, is facing claims that its website discriminates against the blind population.
W BBQ Holdings, Inc., which operates ten Dallas BBQ restaurants in New York, is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit alleging that its website is inaccessible to the blind population. According to the suit, blind people are denied access to the goods and services offered on the Dallas BBQ site as a result of various access barriers that hinder them from navigating the site through their screen readers. From the complaint:
“These barriers are pervasive and include, but are not limited to: lack of alternative text on graphics, inaccessible checkboxes, the lack of adequate prompting and labeling; lack of navigation links; the denial of keyboard access; and the requirement that transactions be performed solely with a mouse.”
The suit argues that until these barriers are removed, the defendant is discriminating against the blind population by not providing the same access to its goods and services that it provides to sighted individuals.
