New Jersey
Accurate Collection Services, LLC is facing a proposed class action lawsuit that claims the defendant mailed a New Jersey resident a collection letter that contained confusing information concerning his debt dispute rights. The letter allegedly provided an address and two telephone numbers by which the plaintiff could contact the debt collector. The case argues that this information would mislead the least sophisticated consumer into believing he or she could either write or call the defendant to dispute the purported debt when, according to the suit, a dispute must be submitted in writing “to be effective.”
