California
Southern California Edison, which case documents say is the primary supplier of electricity for much of the state, is the defendant in a proposed class action claiming the company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The lawsuit claims the company placed unsolicited calls to proposed class members’ cell phones pushing incentives offered through the California Solar Initiative. Under the TCPA, companies are forbidden from placing these types of calls to private cell phones without prior consent.
