National Gas & Electric, LLC is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it placed illegal telemarketing calls to consumers’ cell phones without their prior consent. The plaintiff says his phone number had been listed on the National Do Not Call Registry for more than seven years. Despite this, the defendant allegedly used an automated dialing system to place calls to his phone in an attempt to advertise its services. The suit argues that the defendant violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the plaintiff’s privacy with its “annoying and harassing” calls.
