Frankel v. Global Credit & Collection Corp.
Filed: May 28, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-03215
Global Credit & Collection Corp. is facing claims that it failed to identify itself as a debt collector in messages left on consumers' phones.
New York
Global Credit & Collection Corp. is facing claims that it violated provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) by leaving messages on consumers’ phones that failed to identify the caller as a debt collector attempting to collect a debt. In a proposed class action lawsuit filed against Global Credit, a NY woman alleges that she received an urgent message from the debt collector, but did not, at the time she received the message, know who it was from or the purpose of the call. The suit argues that the defendant intentionally leaves vague messages to entice consumers into returning its calls and providing their personal information to the debt collector.
