Client Services, Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a New York woman accusing the defendant of violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. According to the complaint, the debt collector sent the plaintiff a letter that stated she owed a “Current Balance” of $1,066.26. The suit argues that the use of the word “current” falsely implied that the amount of debt was increasing and that the plaintiff would benefit by paying it off sooner.
