A Wisconsin man has filed a proposed class action against Client Services, Inc. over alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The plaintiff claims the defendant sent him a collection letter that contained a settlement offer “that references the balance due in a confusing way to the unsophisticated consumer.” Specifically, the lawsuit argues that the payment options presented in the collection letter were misleading since it may be unclear to the unsophisticated consumer whether the listed balance will change over the course of time due to the accrual of interest and/or late fees.
