A Newport Beach, California-based law firm is behind separate proposed class action lawsuits filed against American Buildings & Contractors Supply Co., Inc. and Raymond James Financial, Inc. claiming the companies recorded phone conversations with consumers without express permission. Both eight-page complaints claim the defendants violated California consumer protection law by failing to first obtain express consent to record wireless phone conversations. The proposed classes in the respective suits cover anyone in California whose conversation(s) with the defendants was intentionally recorded without disclosure within the applicable statute of limitations.
